An international training centre
A Rocha is working to transform Les Courmettes into an international centre for environmental education, awareness and training.
Its purpose is to welcome students and environmental professionals to study issues such as biodiversity, climate change and environmental responsibility. The Christian identity of A Rocha and Amiral de Coligny provides a foundation for addressing ethical issues that concern both believers and non-believers, and the tools needed to bring about change in society. But we also organise specific training courses for church leaders or Christians who wish to deepen their understanding of issues relating to the preservation of creation. The programme changes every year. We also create tailor-made trips and activities for groups who request them (universities, various groups, etc.).

The courses include theoretical classes and practical work in science (ornithology, botany, ecology, climate, etc.), humanities, ethics and theology.
In addition to these university programmes and summer schools, we also regularly offer nature activities (including for schoolchildren), conferences, holiday stays or retreats, camps (scouts, children’s camps, etc.) and short courses (for environmental or development professionals).
In parallel with this project, we still offer accommodation for holidays at Les Courmettes, whether you are travelling alone, as a couple or with your family. We also welcome groups with their own program (up to 40 people in rooms, 30 in dormitories and tent accommodation available).
You can help!
We are seeking support to enable us to accelerate the implementation and sustainability of this project, and we still need to make the buildings more environmentally friendly. For example, our current boiler runs on fuel oil, which is absurd in a place like Les Courmettes. You can help us by making a donation (tax deductible) and also by coming to help as a volunteer or doing community service, for example.
